The Weekendlies: Summertime & the Livin's easy....

I feel like being abroad for the 4th of July made me feel like I missed the kick off of summer.
Here in the Bay Area, our summer weather starts and ends later. 4th of July is the start, and it rolls through an Indian Summer. Now that I'm back, summer is in full effect. This weekend felt like a very, very short summer break.

1. Working on THE. MUG. SWAP. (just a few days until registration opens!)
2. Tom's Warehouse Sale. Best life choice ever.
3. The haul. 11 pairs of shoes and 4 pairs of sunglassses. (Not all mine).
4. Sparkleritas in the shade, poolside.
5. A 5 minute summer shower. This never happens.
6. Post rain sunset.
7. There's a new kid running the old neighborhood lemonade stand. Made with local lemons. Mylie approves.
8. Warm summer nights = doors wide open. And reflecting sunsets.
9. Another gorgeous sky party to end the weekend.

Weekendlies: The Pumpkinpalooza.

It seems like most weekends these days end with a full tummy and a full heart.
This past one, was no exception.

My former youth group bible study student turned close friend, Cari, and I decided we were long overdue for a girls weekend together. A couple years ago, she got married, to a Dodger fan (a really nice one), and ever since has split her loyalties between the north and the south. She stays neutral pretty well, however, I consider her an underground Giants fan stationed in LA. We miss each other. A lot. LA and SF are way too far apart.

Cari's one request for the weekend was to involve as much pumpkin as possible.

Thankfully, the Wright Brothers invented those crazy airplanes, and visits have become that much easier.
And also thankfully, despite the tragedy at LAX on Friday, Cari was able to change her flight, and get here only an hour later than originally planned.

On the the very last row of the tiniest little airplane. Where she even had to walk the tarmac at SFO. Things were a bit crazy on Friday.

We had a full weekend ahead of catching up.
Cari is a dog person. (Even though somehow, she ended up with a pet cat). In fact, the day I brought Mylie home as a puppy, she brought over a giant Mylie shaped cookie to celebrate. I think Mylie remembers Cari fondly, and misses one of her very first friends. As you can tell by the tail blur going on here.

We stayed up late eating pecan pie ice cream (trader joes.  there are bits of doughy crust in it, and it is SO good. go, now.) and drinking pumpkin beer. Commence Pumpkinpalooza.

We both slept in, and I woke up a little early to make us breakfast.
Pumpkin Cranberry Scones with Pumpkin Butter & Philz Coffee with Pumpkin Spice Creamer.

Joined by my sister, we shopped.
A lot.
And came home with some fabulous purchases.
Cari got this adorable coat.

And I tested reading glasses.
At what point does one legitimately need reading glasses?!

And then we came home and put our comfies on, and continued our palooza.
We did what we do well, especially together: baked & chatted.
We baked Kimberlee's Pumpkin Cheesecake while we dined on Pumpkin & Butternut Squash Ravioli.

And spent more time chatting and watching a movie.
And I'd say we paloozaed well.
Really well.

Sunday we churched.
And then hung out with my favorite Sunday snuggler.
She might be over me.

Before I knew it, the weekend was over.
And Cari had to return to her land of cats and Dodger fans.

I will miss you Carolina!
You are the kind of sweet friend who refreshes the soul.
LOVE YOU!!!

10 on 10: Second Saturday Edition

Up early and heading out.

Worked on some Mug Swap stuff, and cranked out a few blog posts.

I love the mid day light in my kitchen. I wish I was here to enjoy it more.

Off to my parents for some fluffy time.

One fluffy was extremely stinky. Into the sink she went.

My sister has been driving her same car since high school. She patiently waited until it was the right time, and finally got a sweet new ride. She took me for a spin!

The second Saturday of each month is Hope's Marrieds' group. I take these two out for the night.
We do the same thing every month.

Dollar Store.

McDonalds.
(This time we picnicked. )

Play with Mylie.
(Or tempt her with s'mores.)

And usually some form of dog show when it gets cold outside, until we get the all clear text to bring them home.
This time, dog show was more like little sister show.
She was very obedient.
